Mimi is a writer and storyteller sharing her life as a chronically ill, neurodivergent homeschool mom of three in the Illinois Quad Cities. A homeschool graduate, she went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communications. She has always loved books, and during college, she fell in love with writing too.
She now shares her voice through Midwest Mimi, where she tells stories of resilience, belonging, and beauty found in the messy middle of life. Writing helps her process the hard parts and hold onto the good ones, while offering hope to others who are learning to rebuild, adapt, or start over.
At home, Mimi lives with her wife, Thy, their three kids Raeleigh, Channing, and toddler Royce, and three cats, Diamond, Dixie, and Kancha. Together, they explore Midwest parks and campgrounds, often returning to a family favorite: Maquoketa Caves State Park.
Mimi’s quiet moments are often spent with an audiobook playing in the background while she sketches and paints. When her energy is low, she leans into rest with her favorite guilty pleasure, streaming Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.
“Grounded in nature. Grown through struggle.” isn’t just her tagline, it’s her way of life.
